Cottage pie is one of the most popular of current trending foods in the world. It is enjoyed by millions every day. It is simple, it is quick, it tastes delicious. They’re nice and they look wonderful. Cottage pie is something which I’ve loved my entire life.

To get started with this recipe, we must prepare a few components. You can have cottage pie using 22 ingredients and 10 steps. Here is how you cook it.

The ingredients needed to make Cottage pie:
  1. Take minced beef
  2. Make ready olive oil
  3. Get small onion grated
  4. Take small carrots grated
  5. Make ready garlic grated
  6. Get Worceshire sauce
  7. Take Oxo cubes (beef stock cubes)
  8. Get warm water
  9. Make ready tomato puree
  10. Take red wine
  11. Make ready rosemary (dry)
  12. Get Thymes (dry)
  13. Take hot chilli powder (optional)
  14. Prepare Mashed potatoes top
  15. Get floury potatoes cut to medium -small chunk (same size)
  16. Prepare butter
  17. Prepare milk
  18. Prepare egg yolks
  19. Make ready + Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  20. Prepare Seasoning
  21. Get Grated Parmesan cheese to top
  22. Make ready Salt & black pepper
Instructions to make Cottage pie:
  1. Heat up the oven at 190 c or 200 c for Halogen oven.
  2. Heat up the pan with olive oil and brown the minced beef. Season with salt & pepper.
  3. Add grated onion, carrots and garlic.
  4. Add worceshire sauce, tomato puree, rosemary and thymes. Stir them and let them cook. Don’t forget to season with salt & pepper.
  5. Pour in the red wine and reduce until almost completely evaporated. Add the oxo cubes and water, simmer until the sauce has thickened.
  6. When we reducing the sauce, cook the potatoes with high heat from cold salted water until the water are boiling. Reduce to low heat, close the lid for 8 -10 minutes. Drain them in colander and leave them dry for 5 minutes. Then return them to the pan. Mash them. Leave them to one side and add milk and butter in the pan. Season with salt & pepper.
  7. Heat the milk & butter. When the butter are melted. Mix the mashed potatoes in milk & butter. Turn off the heat. beat in the egg yolks, followed by about 2 tbsp grated Parmesan. Mix them up. Check for seasoning.
  8. Now we are ready to assemble. Add all beef sauce in the bowl (oven bowl or Pyrex bowl). Then add mashed potatoes on top. Season with salt, pepper and grated parmesan cheese on top of mashed potatoes. Don’t forget to fluff the top of mashed potatoes before putting in the oven.
  9. Bake in the oven for approximately 18-20 minutes, until bubbling and golden brown. I baked them in halogen oven for 30 minutes.
