Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating until smooth after each addition. Chop the chocolate and place it in a heat-proof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Stir until just melted and set aside until cooled to room temperature. In the bowl of an electric mixer.

Steps to make Chocolate cake:
  1. Preheat oven to 180⁰/ GM5. Grease the tins.
  2. Mix the butter and caster sugar together until smooth.

  4. Melt half of the chocolate in the microwave and pour it into cake mixture and stir until all mixed in.
  5. Evenly pour half into each tin and cook for about 20 mins. Check its cooked by putting a knife in the cakes and if it comes out clean then its cooked.
  6. Take out tins and leave on cooling rack until completely cooled.
  7. Beat the butter until smooth and add the icing sugar then the coco powder. Melt the rest of the chocolate and add to buttercream. Add milk if a bit stiff. Pipe onto cake.

Stir until just melted and set aside until cooled to room temperature. In the bowl of an electric mixer.
