Hey everyone, it is Louise, welcome to our recipe site. Today, I will show you a way to make a distinctive dish, my grandma's milk pie. It is one of my favorites food recipes. For mine, I’m gonna make it a bit tasty. This will be really delicious.

My grandma's milk pie is one of the most well liked of current trending meals in the world. It’s easy, it’s quick, it tastes delicious. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. They’re fine and they look fantastic. My grandma's milk pie is something that I’ve loved my entire life.

My son-in-law has been trying to replicate (for years) a childhood favorite his mother made – milk pie! We all laughed and teased him until I found this delicious version which I'm sure is destined to become a family tradition. My Grandma Mary would always make me a milk pie if there was left over crust just for me. I could never find one as she would just pour the milk in the crust, sprinkle sugar and flour in, mix all the ingredients gently in the pie crust with a dainty thin "spatula" and then dot with butter and bake in her coal cookstove.

To get started with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can have my grandma's milk pie using 7 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook it.

The ingredients needed to make My grandma's milk pie:
  1. Get 2 l full fat milk
  2. Prepare 250 g semolina
  3. Get 4 eggs
  4. Prepare 250 g margarine
  5. Get 2-3 tsp vanilla essence
  6. Take 1/2 cup sugar
  7. Take 1/2 kg phyllo pastry

If you came over to visit her, she would expect you to eat cake or something else fresh from the oven, whether you were. Mix cocoa, cornstarch, beaten egg yolks; sugar and salt, then add milk gradually, while stirring in a pot over med-high heat. Cook until thick, beating it smooth. This is very similar to my Grandma Coleman's sugar pie.

Steps to make My grandma's milk pie:
  1. Place the milk, semolina, margarine and sugar in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to boil, while stirring constantly.  You should be left with a thick sauce, of pouring consistency.  Remove from the heat.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the vanilla essence, and then stir them in the milk sauce.
  4. Thoroughly brush a large ovenproof dish with melted margarine.  Layer half the phyllo sheets to cover the base and sides of your dish, making sure to brush each sheet well with melted margarine first.
  5. Pour the filling in. Roll the edges of the phyllo pastry to create a crust around the pie. Brush the crust with melted margarine.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven, 180°C, for approximately 1 hour, until golden.  Dust liberally with ground cinnamon, and proceed to… devour!!

Cook until thick, beating it smooth. This is very similar to my Grandma Coleman's sugar pie. One difference is, she did not add eggs. She made the pie crust and then dumped the dry ingredients onto the crust and added evaporated milk (another difference), stirring with her finger and adding milk as needed until she got just the right consistency. My mother and grandmother made this pie with buttermilk and eggs from our farm and set it on the tables at church meetings and social gatherings.
