Recipe of Perfect Klepon

Hello everybody, it’s John, welcome to my recipe page. Today, we’re going to make a distinctive dish, klepon. It is one of my favorites food recipes. This time, I am going to make it a bit tasty. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Klepon (pronounced Klē-pon), or kelepon, is a traditional Javanese green-coloured balls of rice cake filled with liquid palm sugar and coated in grated coconut, originating from Indonesia. The sweet glutinous rice balls is one of popular Indonesian kue, and it is commonly found in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore, through Indonesian diaspora. We thought it was about time we paid homage to klepon. Our klepon recipe is a lot of fun to make, particularly if you decide to make the green food colouring yourself.

Klepon is one of the most well liked of recent trending foods in the world. It is appreciated by millions daily. It’s easy, it is fast, it tastes yummy. They’re nice and they look wonderful. Klepon is something which I have loved my whole life.

To get started with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook klepon using 10 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Klepon:
  1. Get 250 g tapioca flour
  2. Make ready 50 g rice flour
  3. Take 50 ml cream
  4. Take 50 ml water
  5. Get Green food colouring
  6. Get Filling
  7. Get 50 gr Palm sugar/ coconut Brown sugar
  8. Make ready Topping
  9. Take 100 g grated coconut
  10. Make ready Pinch sugar

Bite into hot, bursting gula melaka, surrounded by chewy pandan and soft coconut, in this addictive Indonesian snack. The klepon is done, when they float to the surface. For a more softer core, leave them in for about a minute extra. Let them cool down a bit and roll them through the coconut.

Steps to make Klepon:
  1. Steam the coconut for about 10min and add pinch of salt, keep aside
  2. Mix the water and the cream on a glass
  3. In a bowl, mix both the flour and add the cream mixture little by little until the dough is formed and not sticky
  4. Add food colouring to give a soft green colour
  5. Then get some water in a medium pot and bring it to boil
  6. Take approximately 20g of dough, form a round shape then add little bit of brown sugar inside, and cover it well so it won't leak when it's boiled in the water
  7. Drop the ball into boiling water one by one after you fill it with brown sugar
  8. Wait until the balls come up to the surface / floating then remove from the water one by one
  9. Roll them in the steamed coconut then serve

For a more softer core, leave them in for about a minute extra. Let them cool down a bit and roll them through the coconut. I have some leftover roasted shredded coconut so I mix that through the white coconut flakes too. Klepon is one of Indonesians' favorite sweets. Klepon is a sweet snack made of glutinous rice flour with palm sugar filling and coated with grated coconut.
