The ingredients needed to make Planked Salmon:
  1. Make ready 1 kg salmon fillet
  2. Get 3 tbsp brown sugar
  3. Prepare 1 tsp sea salt

  6. Get 1 tbsp lime juice

Serve warm or at room temperature. Place the salmon on the plank, skin-side down. In a small bowl, stir together the sesame oil, brown sugar, dill weed and sesame seeds. Stir in just enough water to make it liquid.

Instructions to make Planked Salmon:
  1. Soak a cedar plank in cold water for at least one hour, longer is better!
  2. Remove any pin bones from salmon, make small incisions in flesh, you can remove skin if you wish.
  3. Mix sugar, salt & pepper (and lime zest if using) together, sprinkle over salmon, wrap in cling film for 30 -45 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 190C, when hot place plank in oven, on a baking tray, for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove salmon from cling film and place, skin side down, on plank, drizzle with any liquid, sprinkle on lime juice.
  6. Place in oven for 25-30 minutes until cooked, should be slightly pink in the middle.
  7. Serve with fried potatoes and peas or green salad.
  8. Also good with wild rice.
